Abrasive blasting

Abrasive blasting is often referred to as sandblasting. The operation involves blasting abrasive material under high pressure onto the surface of an object. The aim may be to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface or remove surface contaminants (scale, old coating, rust, ...).

Depending on the type of operation and the desired result, a variety of materials are available for abrasive blasting:

  • Soda
  • Nut shells
  • Sand
  • Steel grit
  • Slag
  • Aluminium oxide
  • Silicon carbide
  • and other materials

Dry Ice Blasting With Abrasive (Mixed Media Blasting)

Abrasive blasting methods include dry ice blasting with the addition of abrasive. This process allows to achieve the quality of abrasive blasting with a significantly reduced volume of abrasive. Since dry ice is converted to gas, its use also reduces the volume of waste to be disposed of after blasting.
